The MAGNUM 49D, 53D, 57D, and 60D X 60mm Standard Loop Figure Wheels provide a great range of Grip and lot’s of Roll and are the World Standard by which all other Figure wheels are compared. The Magnum Standard Series Loop Figure Wheels are a less expensive version of the Giotto Professional Loop Figure Wheels and are primarily used for the Loop Circles, but can also be used for Loops. The Magnum Standard Series Figure Wheels are a less expensive version of the Giotto Professional Figure Wheels and are primarily used for the Long (Large) Circles, but can also be used for Loops. A few also use the Magnum Wheels as a Low Cost Dance Wheel for those begining in Competition.
Most of the World level Figure competitors use the 60mm for the Loop Circles and use combinations of hardnesses of the Magnum Standard Figure Wheel to achieve the best Skating result. Roll-Line has developed this wheel giving it properties that provide great roll with just the right amount of grip for figures. Compulsory Figures are high precision exercises. The feet transmit the impulses to the skating boot and thus to the steering (for the direction) and finally to the wheel (for contact with the skating surface). The Roll-Line Magnum Standard Figure Wheels (49D, 53D, 57D, and 60D) are a Medium-Profile wheel with exceptional Roll characteristics with extremely Close Tolerances for Roundness, Trueness, and for the Cage where the Bearings and Spacers are mounted. The Roll-Line Magnum Standard Figure Wheels are a MonoCompound Elastomeric ThermoPlastiche wheel, which is produced utilizing an injection system. The 49D, 53D, 57D, and 60D provide a great varying range of grip in the wheel material and is for a skating surfaces with a range of grip.
The wheel color identifies which hardness the wheel is.
Gray: 49D
Cream: 53D
Yellow: 57D
White: 60D
In the USA, most skaters use the 60D, while stepping down to the 53D or sometimes the 57D for the inside toe wheels as additional Push Wheels.
The softer the wheel, or lower Shore “D” hardness number, the more the grip and slightly less roll. The harder the wheel, or higher Shore “D” number, the more the roll, with slightly less grip.
It is almost always recommended to use spacers in the wheels, when using standard 7mm bearings. Long ago, before the use of Lock Nuts (the nuts that have the Nylon Plastic inserts) to hold the wheels on the axles, Jam Nuts were used, but when the spacer was not as wide as the web of the wheel, or the wheel was not machined accurately, the bearings would lock up, the nut had to be tight, and could not be “backed-off”. This method, of locking the Axle Nut down, did promote proper bearing alignment and did increase the diameter of the axle from 7mm to approximately 14mm, because everything was locked down, which also saved the problems of bent axles. Today we do use Lock Nuts. It is still very advisable to lock everything down (especially for FreeStyle, Jam, and Roller Derby Skaters). Roll-Line does provide Spacers for Roll-Line Wheels with each pair of Frames or they can be purchased separately. Properly locking the Wheels down when using standard bearing types, will also promote longer bearing life.
